Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger Receives California State Bar’s DEI Leadership Gold Seal
October 16, 2024The State Bar of California has awarded SMW its 2024 DEI Leadership Seal to recognize the firm’s successful efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace and in the legal profession. The firm is a Gold tier recipient, indicating they have implemented at least nine of the ten evidence-based Action Items the State Bar recommends law firms and other legal employers implement to promote an inclusive workplace. SMW is one of only 14 recipients of the Gold Seal in 2024.
Action items include creating a strategic DEI plan; surveying staff to gather feedback on DEI efforts; requiring annual employee implicit bias training; and integrating DEI responsibilities into leadership team members’ job duties, among other initiatives.
The recommended Action Items will change in future years to encourage employers to commit to even more ambitious actions.
