Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger Welcomes New Urban Planner Kristi Bascom

August 26, 2022

Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger is pleased to announce the addition of a new urban planner, Kristi Bascom.

“Kristi is a fantastic addition to our firm,” said Richard S. Taylor, Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger’s managing partner. “She brings expertise in public agency planning, CEQA, and affordable housing. We are lucky to have her on the team.”

Before coming to SMW, Ms. Bascom served municipal agencies throughout the Bay Area, both as a staff planner and planning consultant. She worked on a wide range of development projects and policy planning efforts, including supporting affordable housing developers in building homes for underserved populations and working families. Ms. Bascom graduated from San Jose State University with a Master of Urban Planning degree. She received a Certificate in Green Building and Sustainable Design from UC Davis Extension. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), the American Planning Association (APA), and the California Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP).

Outside of work, Kristi enjoys keeping up with her two sons, paddleboarding, learning Spanish, and daydreaming about her next trip. Regarding joining the firm, Kristi said: “I’m excited to be back working on environmental and land use issues.  My career began working for the Sierra Club over twenty years ago, so I feel like it is coming full circle.”
