Winter King

Winter King joined the firm as an environmental law fellow in 2004, after completing her clerkship with the Honorable Marsha Berzon, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2002, and her undergraduate degree from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland.

During law school, Ms. King served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal.  As a Coker Teaching Fellow, she taught first year law students basic legal research and writing skills.  Ms. King worked as a summer law clerk for the Public Defender office in Washington State, representing indigent clients in criminal proceedings.  Ms. King’s article, “Illegal Settlements and the Impact of Titling Programs,” analyzing the ways in which developing countries respond to illegal urban settlements, was awarded the annual prize at Yale Law School for the best paper in the field of Real Property, and was subsequently published in the Harvard International Law Journal.

Following law school, Ms. King worked as an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, with a focus on First Amendment law.

Ms. King is licensed to practice law in California and New York.
