Privatization Opponents Qualify Marin Referendum

The Marin County Registrar of Voters announced in October of 2009 that the California Healthy Communities Network had gathered more than enough signatures to qualify its referendum of a privatization contract approved by the Novato Sanitary District.  By this contract, the District would turn over the operation and management of its wastewater treatment plant to Veolia Water North America, the subsidiary of a corporation based in Paris.  Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger represents California Healthy Communities Network and Alliance of Concerned Citizens of Novato in their opposition to the privatization.  For more information, read the full story as reported in a New York Times article dated December 4, 2009.
