Doug A. ObegiMr. Obegi joined the firm in 2006 as an environmental law fellow. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, Mr. Obegi served as an articles editor for the West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. His student note, “Is There a Constitutional Right to Fish in a Marine Protected Area,” was published in the Fall 2005 volume of the West-Northwest Journal. Mr. Obegi worked at Shute, Mihaly and Weinberger as a summer law clerk in 2005 and he interned for the Environmental Law Clinic at Stanford Law School during the summer of 2004. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Obegi worked for five years at The Ocean Conservancy, a national environmental group, eventually serving as manager of the Pacific Ecosystem Project. In that capacity he carried out legislative and regulatory policy analysis and lobbying relating to the establishment of marine protected areas, oil spill prevention and response programs, state and federal oceanic fishing regulations, and budgetary appropriations for the Department of Fish and Game. Mr. Obegi has testified before the state legislature, the California Fish and Game Commission, and the Pacific Fisheries Management Council. He graduated in 1997 from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. Mr. Obegi is a member of the State Bar of California. |
